To date this is one of the biggest Kings I have ever caught. Not to mention it was the longest fight I have ever had with a fish. Over 35 minutes it took to land this scale tipping 38 lb 42 inch king. Yesterday September 28th was a very productive day on the Salmon River, Pulaski NY. I landed over 11 kings, 2 Cohos, 6 Steelhead, and 4 Browns. Many fisherman didn't fare as well, but the ones that did were landing fish the same size as this one and bigger. This fish was caught an released around 10:30am. The day was a mix of clouds sun and rain, the earlier part of the day was calm and sunny. I was using a Orvis T3 Rod and a Orvis Large Arbor IV reel with 8wt line. Hand tied tapered tippet with the end being 2x mono. The fly was a custom tied Chartreuse, Purple and Black Comet with a weighted body and no bead head, size 10. I was swinging fly's through a calmer section at the lower end of the river, mainly producing great takes from steelhead and the occasional king. This one took aggressively and 3 times it took me in to my backing. I was finally able to land it on my own and had a fellow angler take a picture. The shear size of this thing was unimaginable, as you can see from the picture, I literally had to set it on my pack because the girth and the majority of its weight was in the center. The girth of this fish exceeded 26 inches!!! I am looking forward to fishing with more LCF members this fall at the salmon river. It's time we start putting this place on the map as one of the most incredible fisheries in the world! Here's to a safe and productive season.

Dale Pettenski caught this 25 inch Northern Pike at Mendon Ponds Park (100 Acre Pond). Fishing for Largemouth, caught this nothern pike flipping a black/blue Berkley Chigger Craw pegged with a 3/4oz Picasso black bullet wieght. Used 65lb power pro braid with a 4/0 Paycheck baits straight shank punck hook. Found a patteren flipping dense milfoil and lilly-pad beds for largemouth whne this northern engulfed my bait.

Manny caught this 35 inch chinook Salmon september 23rd of the Summerville peir. I was using floating egg sac off the bottom, with 12 pound test line, and it took it on the river side. But thier is a story to go along with this! Well I think I might have one of the best fishing stories to tell tonight! it's a little after 11 pm September 23 and I just got back from fishing Summerville pier. I was fishing an egg sac on the Genesee river side and was casting with another pole. I was pretty far from my egg sac pole when I looked over and noticed my ...bottle had tipped over, an the line was spinning of the reel, so I started sprinting to my pole! but with no evale, my pole shot off like a rocket into the water. But about an hour ater my other bottle went over so I grabbed the pole, but thier wasn't a fish, but there was unusual tension. So I reeled my pole in, and there was my line from my other pole, so I start hauling the line in barehanded in hopes to get my pole back. So I'm pulling and suddenly the line starts shooting out... of my hand, so I start pulling the other end of the line towards me, the fish was still on the line, so finally I get to the end of my line and thier comes up my pole! so i start reeling all my line in as fast as I can, and as it get tight, the fight began! so to top off the story I landed a 20 pound 35 inch Chinook Salmon and got my pole back.

Manny caught this 26 inch Atlantic Salmon September 11th, out of the Salmon River! It took an orange estaz patter under a strike indicator with 8LB test line.

This almost 20 inch Walleye was caught on a yellow and black #5 spinner in the Erie Canal by member Roberto Galante.
